This homeowner in Neptune, NJ was experiencing cold floors and drafty first-floor rooms due to an unprotected crawl space. Our team encapsulated the crawl space with a vapor barrier and installed rigid foam insulation on the exterior foundation walls. We also addressed the rim joists, which are common problem areas where outside air can leak in and travel up into the floors. We sealed them with spray foam to stop air infiltration and cold drafts. With the crawl space properly insulated and sealed, the cold floors and drafts were eliminated, leaving the homeowner with a more comfortable, efficient home and no more cold spots.
After inspecting the crawl space in Ocean Grove, NJ, we discovered condensation forming on the pipes and dripping onto surrounding surfaces. High relative humidity can lead to the formation of condensation, which encourages mold growth on organic materials. This mold can release spores and odors, potentially compromising indoor air quality and leading to dry rot that damages the wood structure in the crawl space. To address this, we recommend installing a Sedona dehumidifier. This solution effectively reduces humidity levels, dries out the crawl space, and helps maintain comfort throughout the rest of the house.
