This home in Lincroft, NJ has an adjacent wall exposed to extreme attic temperatures, causing rooms to become too hot in summer and too cold in winter. Hot attic air leaks through the adjacent wall into the conditioned space and forces the AC to work harder, while heated air the homeowner pays for escapes into the attic during winter. We installed rigid foam boards with a radiant barrier along the adjacent wall and sealed them with foam sealant to stop attic air from entering and conditioned air from escaping. With conditioned rooms below, we then air-sealed the rest of the attic and blew in TruSoft cellulose insulation to keep outdoor air out and conditioned air in.
