Dense Packing Garage Ceiling in Brielle, NJ for Year-Round Comfort and Quiet

View Photo Gallery

Challenge

In Brielle, NJ, a homeowner had a garage with no insulation in the ceiling. The finished room above became uncomfortably cold in the winter as frigid air leaked in, and hot, rising air from the garage made it stuffy in the summer. The lack of insulation also allowed excessive noise from the garage to carry into the room above.

Solution

We drilled holes between each ceiling joist bay and inserted a hose to blow in TruSoft cellulose insulation, completely filling the cavities using a method called dense packing. This process enhances insulation, reduces noise from below, and helps maintain a consistent, comfortable temperature in the room above. Once the insulation was installed, we sealed the holes and applied spackle, leaving the ceiling ready for the homeowner to paint. The result is quieter, more comfortable rooms that can also help reduce energy bills.
