This home in Brick, NJ had an attic pull-down staircase that was allowing conditioned air to leak into the attic, wasting energy, increasing utility bills, and causing uneven temperatures throughout the house. The attic was not properly air sealed, which allowed even more heated and cooled air to escape. To fix the issue, we properly air sealed and insulated the attic, sealed all seams of the framed attic entrance, and installed weather stripping to create a tight barrier. We also added wooden retaining walls to maintain open, usable flooring space. Finally, we installed a David Lewis Hatch Cover over the attic entrance to further prevent air leakage. The result is a more comfortable home with reduced energy loss and lower energy costs.
