Cold Floors Fixed in Farmingdale, NJ with Spray Foam, Encapsulation & Rigid Foam Boards
Challenge
In Farmingdale, NJ, the homeowner was experiencing cold floors and drafts on the first floor. Upon inspecting the crawl space, we found exposed rim joists, uninsulated porous cinder block walls, and no vapor barrier or crawl space liner. These issues contributed to cold floors, drafts, excess moisture, and conditions that could promote mold growth.
Solution
We spray foam the rim joists and sill plates to help eliminate drafts and cold floors. Rigid foam boards are installed on the cinder block walls to reduce air infiltration, followed by a thick vapor barrier to help control moisture and encapsulate the crawl space. The result is a conditioned crawl space that helps keep outside air and moisture out, improve comfort, and reduce the risk of mold growth.
