Vented Crawlspace Causing Comfort and Indoor Air Quality Problems in Highlands, NJ
We see many vented crawlspaces in New Jersey, and this home in Highlands was no exception. During our free home evaluation, we found a vented crawlspace that was allowing outside air and moisture to enter, contributing to comfort issues, excess humidity, mold growth, and poor indoor air quality. Since the HVAC trunk lines run through the crawlspace, any leaks or poor insulation can also let conditioned air escape and allow contaminants to affect the air throughout the home. To help solve these problems, we can seal the crawlspace vents, treat the mold or growth, insulate the cinderblock walls, and install a vapor barrier to help keep moisture out and improve overall comfort.
