This house in Sea Girt, NJ's lack of insulation in the attic was not keeping the customers heated or cooled air inside of the home. Allowing this air to escape your home means you are spending more money to heat and cool than you should, and tyou are not as comfortable as you could be in your home! You can see the difference after adding 11" of cellulose, how it looks like a warm wool blanket pulled over the top of the house. With no cracks or gaps for the air to go, it is forced to remain in the house. Simply upgrading your insulation can yield amazing results in both comfort in the home, and savings on energy costs.
We are in Sea Girt, NJ with a homeowner who contacted us about an uncomfortable, cold and drafty house. When our team inspected the owner’s attic we saw old fiberglass insulation, gaps or open soffits, leaky ducts and inadequate insulation.
To solve our customers issues we spray foamed the leaky ducts and installed our SilverGlo insulation panels over the metal ductwork. This prevents any heat radiating off the metal ducts and eliminates any leaky ducts. Once our team spray foams the rim joists we then use our orange ZypFoam sealant to air seal all the seams, gaps and open soffits or holes. We build dams with wooden planks to contain our TruSoft Cellulose insulation. Finally, our team blows-in our TruSoft Cellulose insulation and then uses our orange ZypFoam sealant to seal any seams on the attic decking.
Our customer now enjoys a clean attic with a catwalk that can be used for storage. With the proper insulation and techniques from our team, we have eliminated any drafts or uncomfortable rooms in the owners house.
The homeowner in Sea Girt, NJ, experienced comfort issues on the second floor. Upon conducting a free inspection, we discovered that the attic was in poor condition. Our team took action by air sealing the attic using ZypFoam sealant, sealing and encapsulating leaky ducts, installing can light covers to seal the can lights, adding SiverGlo rigid foam boards to insulate adjoining walls, properly incorporating baffle vents for ventilation, and blowing in TruSoft cellulose insulation to achieve an R-60 value. These measures significantly enhanced the home's comfort and energy efficiency for the homeowner.
In Sea Girt, NJ, a homeowner was dealing with cold floors and an uncomfortably chilly home during the winter. Our inspection revealed that a cantilever in the garage was poorly insulated, allowing cold outside air to seep into the garage and leak through the cantilever. The existing fiberglass insulation was ineffective—simply stuffed in place with the joist bay behind it completely empty. We also found a crawl space behind the cinderblock wall that required proper insulation. To fix the problem, we insulated the cantilever with SilverGlo foam boards and sealed them with foam sealant, while also addressing the crawl space. These improvements have made the home noticeably warmer and more comfortable, while helping the homeowner save on energy bills.
This home is a 100+ year old house on a slab, with minimal storage space. The customer also had comfort issues, to hot upstairs in the summer. The before picture shows the attic space used for storage along with the central heating and coolng system in the attic. This is very inefficient space for storage of mechanical systems. It gets up to 140 degrees in the summer. The AFTER pictures shows a completed super attic, where the air and thermal boundry is moved to the roof line, bringing the space inside. Now the attic is always with a few degrees of the conditioned space below and suitable for storage. This solution provides excellent insulation performance and maintains a fully vented roof assembly.
